Ensuring Correct Alignment on the Backside of an SPR During Removal with the PR-5 Riveter is Essential.
Heavy Duty HD dies (PRR-10HD & PRR-11HD) are specifically designed for rivet removal on thicker material stacks.
While these dies are built for heavy-duty use, improper handling can still lead to failure during removal. To ensure a clean and effective rivet removal process, it is crucial to follow the proper steps.
STEP ONE:
Install the PRR-10HD on the FIXED side of the arm. Do not use an extension die. Install the PRR-11HD on the DRIVEN side of the gun.
STEP TWO:
Align the PRR-10HD’s alignment pocket with the formed side of the rivet.
The elastomer spring (rubber piece) should fit snugly around the formed side, typically located inside the vehicle.
STEP THREE:
Pull the PR-5 gun trigger. The ram will extend, and the elastomer spring will compress.
⚠️ ONCE THE RIVET IS REMOVED, RELEASE THE TRIGGER IMMEDIATELY.
Holding the trigger after the rivet has been pushed out may damage the die.
💡 Pro Tip: Pull the trigger slowly, pausing if necessary, to ensure proper alignment. The driven side should meet the fixed side correctly before applying full force.
STEP FOUR:
Press the manual retract button on the PR-5 to return the ram to its retracted position.
The elastomer spring will decompress, pulling the PRR-10HD out of the hole left by the removed rivet.
